Laodicea
Vs. 3:14 - "Lukewarm"
Attributes Of Jesus: The Amen, The Faithful and True Witness, The Beginning of the creation of God:
Promise: Sit with Me on My throne.
Rebuke: Neather hot nor cold; You say you are rich. Have need of nothing.
Threat: I will vomit you out of My mouth.
History:
Laodicea (The rejected Church of 20th Century A.D.) and the lukewarm Church (1900- ?? AD)
- Laodicea means people's rights or rulership by the people or democracy. The present general state of the Church is
lukewarm and is nauseous to Christ. Laodicea was set on a major road from Ephesus to Syria. It was, consequently, a commercial and strategic center of the ancient world. It had originally been a fortress but since the city's water supply was transported via aqueduct 6 miles away it had a great weakness. This city was a great banking and financial center, a center for clothing manufacture, and it housed a considerable medical school. The medical school employed famous doctors and produced ointments for the ears and eyes. Phrygian power was exported all over the ancient world in solidified tabletform. Laodicea was so conscious of its medical skill in the care of eyes that it never realized that in the sight of God it was spiritually blind.
